In our daily life we are constantly confronted with sin. The enemy is always on the look out for opportunities to create havoc but we can be ready for his attacks. We know that life will have temptations and problems, so how can we “fight” affectively? The answer is PRAYER. However, it also starts with our beliefs and mindset. The Bible clearly states we have authority over the Devil but do we truly believe that?
Luke 10:19 NIV
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
Do we feel powerful against the Devil’s plans when we know God gives us strength?
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Know in your heart and believe that you have authority over the enemy. Live your life in a way that makes the Devil feel powerless. We know the Bible says we have power over the Devil but I feel we rarely command the Devil to flee when we know he is trying to cause havoc.
James 4:7 NIV
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
A funny quote I saw on Pinterest said ” Be the kind of women that when your feet hit the floor each morning the Devil says, “Oh crap, she’s up!” This quote reminds me not to fear the Devil but rebuke him. Prayer is so powerful and we know that God is more powerful than the Devil. Don’t just think it, BELIEVE it!
We as Christians should live differently than the world. Don’t look at the world for guidance, look at the word! God will help us through any trial or tribulation. I don’t know about you but I love wrecking the Devil’s plans. When the Devil is trying to make me think negative thoughts or get me upset about something that happened, I stop and pray and realize that “this too shall pass”. There is no reason to let the enemy into my thoughts. Keep you thought on all that is good.
Philippians 4:8 NIV
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
If your mind is filled with positive thoughts, there is no room for negative thoughts! Any time you notice that you mind and self-talk are nothing but negative, anytime you notice that you are concentrating on all the things that are going “wrong”, remember this scripture. The enemy will try to attack but you don’t have to leave yourself vulnerable. Keeping a close relationship with Jesus and having a good prayer life is so important to spiritual warfare!
There are several times in my life where I have wrecked the Devil’s plans. One that comes to mind is when my second son was born at 25 weeks. The Devil wanted me to panic, he wanted me to come unraveled. I chose to pray and to stay calm. Yes I had some tough days but over all I trusted in God and knew that everything would work out for my good. And you know what? It did. My son is healthy and home from the NICU and is thriving. It’s important to trust in God even when we do not understand what His plans are. We are not required to understand. We are only required to trust in Him with all our hearts.
Anytime you feel that the enemy is attacking you, know that God is with you. Pray to Him and ask others who are close to you to pray for you. There is nothing wrong with asking other prayer warriors to intercede on your behalf and I bet that would be happy to do it!
