The Devil Believes in God (An Explanation of Salvation)

An explanation of salvation.

Salvation

Here’s the thing, I have been wanting to talk about for a while now. I believe there is some confusion with knowing Jesus and knowing about Jesus. Furthermore, I’m not sure that salvation is completely understood by some and I want to help. Let’s start with some of my own personal background that will make this better to understand and follow.

I have never in my life been an atheist. I have always believed there is a God. However, I was only SAVED 6 years ago in 2011 and I am currently 27 years old. Just because you believe God is real DOES NOT mean you are saved. I once believed this to be true. However, I was not living a Christian life. I thought I could say I believe in God and then just live however I want and never pray or get to know Jesus.

However you have to let Jesus into your heart and make Him the priority in your life. Once you are saved you will begin building a relationship with Jesus and grow in your spiritual journey. Once you accept Jesus as you Lord and Savior there is more that comes after. You must change your life. Jesus will help you change your life. The good news is, you don’t have to do it on your own.

How do you know you’re saved?

Once you really let Jesus into your heart there is no way that it won’t change you. Your behavior, your thoughts, and all parts of your life will begin to change, not all at once, and not over night, but it will. In church I remember a sermon that gave this example. When you have children everything changes. What you spend your money on, what you watch on television, what you do on the weekends and so forth. Before kids I doubt you were buying diapers, watching Elmo, or spending the weekend at Chucky Cheese. However once you have children it changes everything. This is how your life will be changed if you let Jesus into your heart. Some things that may change in your life may be tithing, listening to Christian music, going to church on Sunday, stopping bad habits such as smoking or drinking, and many other things.

Saying “I believe in God” is not the same thing as being saved because it’s not the full process. You must live a Christian life as well. The Devil believes in God. Of course what I mean is the devil believes that God exists. I am not suggesting he follows God. I’m only saying this because I want people to understand. Going to church on Sundays does not mean you are saved. Listening to Christian music does not mean you are saved. You get the point. If you are truly saved you will have no doubt that you are and you will not question if you are saved.

Scriptures

Romans 10:9-10

“If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Yes, it does say in the Bible that if you believe you are saved but this is only part of the process. It also says that you should live a Holy life and that we should not be OF the world but live IN the world.

Titus 2:11-12

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in the present age.”

So although we believe we should also be living a Godly life to the best of our abilities.

Does this mean Christians will not struggle and make no mistakes?

NO. But it does mean that as Christians we are to live differently than others in the world. People should notice that the way we live is different.

Roman 12:2 and Matthew 7:16

“Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?”

It’s important to work on your personal relationship with Jesus. When you let Him in your heart He will help you and guide your life. You can know facts about Jesus but that isn’t the same thing as KNOWING Jesus. Obviously if you want to get to know Him you must pray and study. This post is meant to encourage any who reads it to begin a close relationship with Jesus so that you can bare good fruits and help others find Jesus.

There is no way that letting Jesus into your heart will not change your life. The way you behave, the way you think, the way you see others, the way you raise your children, and so much more will be affected. I hope that you have let Jesus in your heart and let Him change you from the inside out.
